Can You Figure Out Which Items Tend to Be More Popular to Bid On?

lowest unique bid auction

No matter how many items we choose to list at BidGrid, some are always going to attract more attention than others. Of course, there is no way to figure out which ones are the most popular until the auction has ended. Or is there?

If you are willing to put in a little legwork, there are ways you can get a better idea of what to expect from certain auctions. Of course, if an item was very popular to bid on in the past, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will remain just as popular in the future – and vice versa. However, if you want an idea of what might happen during an auction before you bid, we do have some advice you could follow.

Check out the finished auctions

Did you know each auction screen shows exactly where all the bids were placed once the auction has finished? You will see each amount that received a bid is shown in colour. A red block means more than one person placed a bid on that amount, thereby rendering it void. Any green blocks point out amounts that were bid on by just one person and could therefore be in with a chance of being a winning bid.

However, as you know, only the lowest unique bid will be the winner. That’s why we show that amount in orange, so you can see who chose the lowest unique amount to win the auction.

If you look at a few of these auctions over time, you might notice which items tend to attract far more bids than others. Remember, if you win an auction for an item you don’t want, you can still opt to exchange your winning item for bids, enabling you to bid on yet more items in future. So, you might adopt a strategy for trying to win the items that don’t tend to attract lots of attention.

Check out the bids placed on our completed auctions now. It might help you garner more success in future if you are lucky. Which auction are you going to bid on next?
